1.Former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will be the next Governor of Madhya Pradesh.

  • Rashtrapati Bhavan announced her appointment in a tweet. Currently, Gujarat Governor OP Kohli is holding the additional charge of Madhya Pradesh Governor.

2.President Ram Nath Kovind unveiled a book on heartfulness techniques and principles titled ‘The Heartfulness Way’ Authored by Kamlesh Patel.

  • President Kovind unveils book on self-development in Delhi, authored by Kamlesh Patel, widely known as Daaji, the fourth Global Guide of Heartfulness, and Joshua Pollock, a heartfulness trainer, and practitioner.
  • The book promises to be a treat for those who are curious about what is heartfulness and how it can change our day-to-day lives. It was launched by Commerce and Industries Minister Suresh Prabhu.

3.Blind Cricket World Cup: India retains the title by defeating Pakistan.

  • India has retained the World Cup by defeating Pakistan by two wickets at Sharjah in UAE. Team India achieved the victory target losing 8 wickets for 309 with one over to spare.
  • India defeated Bangladesh in the semis to enter the Finals of the 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup. Pakistan qualified for the final after defeating Sri Lanka.

4. Home Minister Rajnath Singh launches Bharat Ke Veer anthem, a short film on India’s Bravehearts.

  • Speaking on the occasion in New Delhi, Mr. Singh appealed people to contribute Bharat Ke Veer initiative and support the families of a martyred soldier.
  • He said the people of this country have pledged their support to the initiative in large numbers. The Minister also said those who have a big heart are the real rich people and they work to bring happiness in others lives.
  • Bharat Ke Veer is a fund to support the families of those courageous and brave Indian soldiers belonging to the eight Central Armed Police Forces, who lost their lives protecting the nation from terrorists and other anti-social elements. The fund is directly administered by the Home Ministry and is given as an annuity or one time grant to the family of the martyred soldier.

5. IMF and World Bank have commended RBI for the remarkable progress in strengthening banking supervision system.

  • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank had released two separate main Reports of the 2017 India Financial Sector Assessment Programme (FSAP) in December 2017.
  • The report providing ‘Detailed Assessment of Observance, Basel Core Principles for Effective Banking Supervision’ has been released by the IMF and the World Bank.
  • The report providing ‘Detailed Assessment of Observance of Clearing Corporation of India Limited (CCIL), Central Counter Party (CCP) and Trade Repository (TR)’ was released by the World Bank.

6. AU Small Finance Bank has signed MoU with LIC to Offer Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) Scheme.

  • Under the MoU, LIC will give a life cover of Rs 2 lakh in case of death to the customer at a nominal premium of Rs 330 per annum.
  • The aim is to provide best services to the customers under one roof, MD and CEO of the, AU Small Finance Bank Sanjay Agarwal said in a statement.
