  • The Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Shri Arun Jaitley said that there is a certain amount of sanctity which must remain attached to the Government Accounting System.
  • Delivering the Inaugural Address at the 42nd Civil Accounts Day function in the national capital, the Finance Minister said that while there are Government Departments that can function with a fairly high amount of accuracy, the Civil Accounts Department is one that cannot afford to err because a small error can lay a huge footprint.

  • The Vietnamese President to have an interaction with President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and prominent Indian businessmen.
  • The visit aims to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

4. Vinesh Phogat bags silver at Asian Wrestling C’ships in Kyrgyzstan.

  • India’s star wrestler Vinesh Phogat has settled for Silver Medal in the 50kg Freestyle competition at the Asian Wrestling Championship.
  • In the final of the event at Bishkek, Vinesh lost to China’s Chun Lei. Another Indian, Sangeeta claimed Bronze in the 59kg division.
  • Along with these two medals, India’s medal tally has reached four in the ongoing championships.

5. Punjab CM & DGP formally welcome cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur into Punjab Police as she joins as DSP, in Chandigarh.

  • Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Director General of Police (DGP) Suresh Arora pinned the stars on her uniform.
  • Harmanpreet Kaur plays as an allrounder for the Indian women’s cricket team and was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award for Cricket in the year 2017 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

7. State’s IT Minister KT Rama Rao launches Tata Boeing aerospace center at Adibatla, Telangana.

  • Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharama inaugurates the facility of TATA Boeing Aerospace Ltd at Adibhatla, Telangana along with Tata Group former chairman Ratan Tata, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao, state Ministers and government officials.
  • A joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Boeing Defence Space and Security, the facility set up in 13 acres, at a reported cost of Rs 200 crores will manufacture and export of Apache attack helicopter along with the Spare parts of the Boeing AH-64 fleet. With the launch, the world’s famous airline manufacturing company, Aircraft Parts Manufacturing Unit of Boeing is ready to be operational in Hyderabad.

8. Odisha Launches Scheme To Provide Free Sanitary Pads.

  • As part of its initiatives to empower women, the Odisha government has launched Khushi scheme to provide free sanitary napkins to school girls across the state.
  • The scheme will be implemented by the health and family welfare department of the state at a cost of 70 crores per year.
  • Under the scheme, the state will provide free sanitary napkins to 17 lakh girls studying in Classes 6 to 12 in government and government-aided schools.

9. Delhi govt to set up State Sanskrit Education Council.

  • The Delhi government has decided to set up its State Sanskrit Education Council to improve the state of formal education of the language in the national capital.
  • Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia has directed the education department to examine various representations received by the Delhi government pertaining to Sanskrit education in schools and colleges.

10. Japan’s Capital Tokyo Unveils Mascots for 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.

  • Tokyo unveiled its long-awaited mascot for the 2020 Olympic Games: a futuristic blue-checked, doe-eyed character with pointy ears and “special powers” that was picked by schoolchildren across mascot-mad Japan.
