1. PM Modi interacted with over 100 MUDRA beneficiaries.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with over 100 MUDRA beneficiaries from across the country at his residence in New Delhi to mark the completion of three years of Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY).
  • Launched in 2015, PMMY has been one of the flagship initiatives of the government to promote entrepreneurial spirit among the youth by providing easy loans without guarantees.
  • The Prime Minister had said, through the Yojana, the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME, sector is receiving a substantial impetus. As on 23rd March this year, over 4 crore and 53 lakh loans have been sanctioned, amounting to over 2 lakh 28,000 crore rupees.

2. Om Mitharval Wins another Bronze in Shooting at the 21st Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia.

  • Indian shooter Om Prakash Mitharval settled for the bronze medal in the men’s 50m pistol event.
  • Host nation Australia’s Daniel Repacholi bagged the gold medal in the event with a Games record 227.2 while Shakil Ahmed of Bangladesh won the silver.
  • Jitu Rai, who had clinched Gold in that event, was eliminated. He finished 8th.

3. India to grow 7.3% this financial year, 7.6% in Next says ADB.

  • The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has said, India’s economic growth is set to rise to 7.3 percent this fiscal and further to 7.6 percent in the next financial year, on back of GST and banking reforms.
  • According to Asian Development Outlook (ADO), Indian economy grew 6.6 percent in the last fiscal as it battled the lingering effects of demonetization in 2016, businesses adjusting to GST in 2017, and a subdued agriculture.
  • ADB India Country Director Kenichi Yokoyama said India would remain the fastest-growing country across Asia.

4. Shooter Shreyasi Singh gives India its 12th Gold medal of Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast.

  • Indian shooter Shreyasi Singh won the women’s double trap gold in a shoot-off after scoring 96 points to take India’s gold medal tally at the 21st Commonwealth Games 2018 to 12.
  • Aussie Emma Cox settled for a Silver, while the Bronze went to Scotland’s Linda Pearson. The other Indian in the event, Varsha Varman finished fourth.
  • This was her second CWG medal after having claimed a silver at the 2014 Glasgow Games.

5. Ankur Mittal bagged a Bronze after finishing third in the Men’s Double Trap in Commonwealth games.

  • The other Indian Ashab Mohammed ended fourth in the event.
  • President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated Shooters Shreyasi Singh, Ankur Mittal and Om Mitharval for bagging medals in the Commonwealth Games today.

6. Sebi to take action against 14,720 entities for ‘non-genuine trades’.

  • SEBI will take action in a phased manner against more than 14,700 entities for “non-genuine trades” through illiquid stock options segment.
  • Adjudication proceedings have been initiated against 567 entities involved in such trades in the first phase, according to a SEBI order.
  • The markets regulator came across violations by 14,720 entities while it was probing 59 entities in a case related to alleged trading irregularities in stock options segment of the BSE.

7. Conference of Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of UTs is held at Megapode Resort, Port Blair.

  • A conference of Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of Union Territories is been held at Megapode Resort, Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, VP Singh, Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Dr. Kiran Bedi, Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Admiral (Retd.) DK Joshi and representatives from Delhi, Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu have attended the conference.

8. PM Modi Inaugurates 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in New Delhi.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in New Delhi. It is the largest gathering of Ministers from energy consuming, producing and transit countries.
  • Hosted by India and co-hosted by China and Korea, the meeting aims to focus on how global shifts, transition policies and new technologies influence market stability and future investment in the energy sector.

9. Rajesh Ranjan appointed DG CISF till November 30, 2020.

  • Rajesh Ranjan, a 1984 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
  • He is at present Special Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF).
  • The post was vacant after OP Singh took over as Director General (DG) of the Uttar Pradesh Police in January this year.

10. The tenth edition DefExpo India Begins in Tamil Nadu.

11. India Signs MoU With World EXPO 2020 Dubai.

  • India and World Expo 2020 signed participants contract for India’s pavilion in the prestigious World Expo 2020 held once in 5 years.
  • The contract provides for the setting up of India pavilion at Expo 2020 on an extra large plot (about one acre) in the ‘Opportunity’ segment. This is tune with the great opportunity for economic activity that India provides today on the way to becoming a $5 trillion economy by 2025.
  • The focus will be given to India’s advances in Space, Pharma, IT, Renewable Energy, Telecom sectors.
